Meet the Library Staff
A Message from the Director
I am so honored to be back in my hometown to give back to the community that gave so much to me. In fact, I even grew up going to this very same library when I was little! I grew up in Irving, IL and graduated from Hillsboro High School. Since then I went on to receive a Bachelor's in English-publishing in 2012 and a Masters in Library Science with a K-12 library and information specialist teaching licensure in 2014. I have prior experience as a school librarian and district librarian in Illinois Schools. I also have experience working with special needs children, toddlers and pre-schoolers.
As the roles of librarians change from finding information for you, to demonstrating how to use technology, assisting with genealogy research and even providing cultural experiences, my vision of the library includes increasing and developing programs for all ages from birth through adulthood, offering basic computer and technology one-on-one training, expanding graphic novel collections, revamping the nonfiction sections and adding to our digital archives via podcasts ("The Voices of Hillsboro" project) for digital and historical preservation.
My office door is always open (except during lunch breaks or when I am out) as I have an "Open Door Policy" so that community and library members feel welcome here. Stop in and visit us!

Sharon is a long time employee of over 10 years of service. She is a wonderful resource for helping with genealogy research or providing readers advisory (book recommendations) service. She is well versed with knowledge of popular adult authors and titles. Everyone is always wondering what Sharon is reading! Sharon also provides circulation services, inter library loan services, book keeping and shelving.
Jenny has worked at the library for over 6 years. Jenny provides circulation services, quick reference, answers the phone, shelves the children's books and is great with little ones. Jenny is our acquisitions clerk (she catalogs the books for us).
Sue previously was our substitute librarian since 2016, but now has recently joined our staff permanently as of September, 2018. She is going to continue to be the Witt librarian, which she manages on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in addition to being part of our staff. Sue is skilled in interlibrary loan, library best practices, and knowledge of library law from her experience at Witt.
